Zimbabwe/UN sign ZUNDAF
Harare, 7 April 2011 -- The Government of Zimbabwe (GoZ) and the United Nations Country Team (UNCT) have signed the Zimbabwe United Nations Development Assistance Framework (ZUNDAF) for the 2012–2015 cycle. The ZUNDAF is the UN’s strategic programme framework to support national development priorities for the period 2012—2015 as well as the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) by 2015.
The framework, which was jointly developed by the GoZ, the UNCT, donors, and civil society organizations to ensure national ownership and inclusiveness, responds in a holistic manner to the evolving national context, and incorporates principles of recovery and development. In order to do this, 7 national priority areas were identified which are explicitly linked to the MDGs. The national priority areas are:
To support good governance for sustainable development
To support pro-poor sustainable growth and economic development
To support food security at household and national levels
To support sound management and use of the environment
To support access to and utilization of quality basic social
services for all
To support universal access to HIV prevention, treatment, care and support
To support women’s empowerment, gender equality and equity
